BYU vs. UVU, Huck Finn Fishing in Lindon, Farmer's and Flower Markets - Aug 7th

Whatās Up Provo!
Today in the ālympics: Menās 400m final (watch for Quincy Hall), the menās 3000m steeplechase (weāre rooting for Kenneth)ā¦
Thereās also the Race Walk Mixed Relay final.š¶ Not sure what to think about this one.
Watching people try their hardest to win is satisfying. Watching people artificially restrict themselves while competing sounds frustrating. Like watching sprinting but the sprinters arenāt allowed to bend their knees. Or the hurdles but your hands have to be in your pockets.
To be fair there is probably a lot more to race walking than we realize. And at the end of the day someone is still getting a gold medal!š„
We may not have the opportunity to win an olympic gold medal today but we do have a lot great things going on. Letās get into it!
Whatās Happening
Hereās a quick overview of top events coming up:

Onoās Malasadas

OUR STORY
While on their annual vacation to the Hawaiian Islands, Sophia Bussio and her family discovered Malasadas, a Portuguese fried sweet dough, a food staple in Hawaii. Sophia and her family saw the opportunity to bring the malasada magic to Provo. Excited to embrace the opportunity, the Bussios dove headfirst into the world of fried dough, later naming their new company āOnoās Malasadas.ā
OUR NAME
The name, a fusion of Hawaiian and Portuguese, encapsulates what a malasada truly is. āOnoā in Hawaiian means ādelicious,ā while in Portuguese, āMalasadasā translates to ābad doughā ā a contradiction that perfectly describes the treat.

Tip for the day
Itās national Simplify Your Life week. One way to simplify your life is by simply being more effective and getting things off your to do list quickly.
To get stuff off your to-do list more effectively it could help to understand Parkinsonās Law which is "Work expands to fill the available time".
Use Parkinsonās Law to your advantage by first identifying some things you need to do. (Some tasks work better than others when it comes to Parkinsonās law such as cleaning, getting through your emails, researching something online, even getting ready for the day.)
Then figure out a time it might take to accomplish that task, and cut the time in half.
Set your timer to that amount and race to accomplish the task(s). Most every time if you follow this technique you will accomplish your tasks quicker. If you have tasks that have lived on your to-do list for a while it will feel great to finally get those checked off.

UPDATE: USA Wins GOLD in Major Upset
Jacob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) and Josh Kerr (Great Britian) were favorites to win the menās 1500m race in Paris. But Cole Hocker of the U.S. shocked the world in what is being called one of the biggest upsets in Olympic running history. We wonāt give away exactly how the race went, better just to see it: Watch the race
āI just felt like I was getting carried by the stadium and God. My body just kind of did it for me. My mind was all there and I saw that finish line.
āWinning gold was my goal this entire year. I wrote that down and I repeated it to myself even if I didnāt believe it. My performances showed me that I was capable of running 3:27, whatever it took. I knew I was a medal contender, and I knew that if I get it right, it would be a gold medal. Iāve been saying that.ā
