🏞️ New Trail Now Open + $10 Thanksgiving Point bday bash

WED - For National Wildlife Day, we’ll briefly highlight a new trail that opened up at Sundance. Also, it’s Eat An Extra Dessert Day, but we celebrated that yesterday, twice, so we won’t mention it.

What’s Up Provo! 🏞️

For National Wildlife Day, Sundance Resort has been kind enough to open a new trail to the public! Actually, it’s been open for a few days now, but we’ll cover it in today’s email. Also, it’s Eat An Extra Dessert Day 🍰, but we celebrated that yesterday, twice, so we won’t mention it.

What we have today in the newsletter:

  • 🍎 2 Outdoor Markets

  • 👪️ Parenting Workshop

  • 🏞️ New Hiking Trail in Sundance

Ono’s Malasadas

Ono’s Bacon, Egg & Cheese | Ono’s Sausage, Egg & Cheese

OUR STORY

While on their annual vacation to the Hawaiian Islands, Sophia Bussio and her family discovered Malasadas, a Portuguese fried sweet dough, a food staple in Hawaii. Sophia and her family saw the opportunity to bring the malasada magic to Provo. Excited to embrace the opportunity, the Bussios dove headfirst into the world of fried dough, later naming their new company “Ono’s Malasadas.”

OUR NAME

The name, a fusion of Hawaiian and Portuguese, encapsulates what a malasada truly is. “Ono” in Hawaiian means “delicious,” while in Portuguese, “Malasadas” translates to “bad dough” — a contradiction that perfectly describes the treat.

Primary Children’s Hospital – Lehi Campus (2250 N Miller Campus Dr, Lehi, UT 84043), held in the Modersitzki Education Center (first floor, near, the Bistro) @ 12:30
This is a training based on a step-by-step research-backed formula. And it is intended for children of ALL ages. A quote from their materials about why they are doing this training:
“Because Lehi has higher than average rates of youth with 1) depressive symptoms, or who 2) have a low commitment to school, as well as several other risk factors that can turn into long term problems. Parents are key to buffering youth against these issues, even if you're not noticing these things in your kids right now.”

🏞️ New Hiking Trail in Sundance

Sundance recently opened a new trail: Bearclaw Summit Trail. It is a 1.75 mile hike, and you access the trailhead at the top of “Red’s Lift”. (We have heard that the lift is not open until 10am, so be aware of that.) Apparently this trail allows hikers to look across Provo Canyon and see some new and stunning views of Cascade Mountain (the mountain behind Squaw peak)!

Here are some more details from Sundance:

“From the trail map sign at the top of Red's Lift to Dry Lakes, hikers will drop into Slide Canyon and wind into Hill's Headwall and Corkscrew trees. It's a 45-60 minute downhill adventure you won't want to miss! Bearclaw Summit trail: 1.75 miles to Dry Lakes (Stewart Falls trail intersection)
Bearclaw Summit trail ➔ Dry Lake ➔ Outlaw Summit (via Upper Stewart Falls trail): ~2.44 miles
Bearclaw Summit trail ➔ Stewart Falls ➔ Resort Base: ~4 miles”

Words To Remember

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”

Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Hope it’s a great Wildlife Day for you—to celebrate, forward this email with the biggest hiker you know.😉
