Rock, Roll, Stroll, Monster Truck Show🍦

Indie Music Festival, Monster Truck Show, Concert in the Park, Olympics continue

What's up Provo!

Summer is winding down but the activities are heating up.🔥 Plus the Olympics, the weekend starts soon…all signs are pointing to a fun Friday and a great start to the weekend.

Also Happy Ice Cream Sandwich Day! 🍦🥪

Apparently ice cream sandwiches were first sold in New York in 1900. Each one cost a penny! Not sure how that was possible but it sounds great.

Here’s a quick overview of today’s top events:

Ono’s Malasadas

Ono's Malasadas are the most delicious, hand made, fresh and, made to order Malasada Donuts in Utah! (Also, we now have sandwiches!) Come try them for yourself!

Located in the old Ripples location on Canyon Road.

Provo Art Stroll🎨

Downtown Provo from 6pm to 9pm
FREE

The art galleries downtown are staying open late and celebrating Provo’s booming art scene.

This is one of the last Art Strolls of the year, so don’t miss out. (Sometimes the walk includes live music as well.)

We enjoy getting dinner downtown and then strolling through the galleries afterwards, but considering it’s Ice Cream Sandwich Day maybe we’ll grab an ice cream sandwich from 711 and eat ‘em while we stroll. (Apparently 711 has the best ice cream sandwiches…)

Outdoor Concert: DANIEL BEDDOES & MIKAYLA PAIGE🎶🔊

The Orchard @ University Place from 6pm to 8pm
FREE

Band Bios:

DANIEL BEDDOES is a Nashville recording singer/songwriter from Ohio. After his service in the United States Marine Corps, he moved to Utah where he began his career writing and performing country music with a western style that meets a little rock’n roll.

MIKAYLA PAIGE is a new female country artist whose sound draws inspiration from artists like Carrie Underwood, Megan Moroney, and Cody Johnson. Mikayla competed on season 7 of American Idol in 2024, and credits a lot of her growth in live performances to advice she got during her run on the show. Mikayla and her band bring a fun, energetic chemistry to the stage.

What’s Good

When watching the Men’s 10,000 meter race today watch for Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei. Joshua might the most accomplished athlete in a track and field medal race today.

Success starts with a healthy body and a healthy mind, and when we run we are nourishing both. This will then allow us to be more productive and achieve our best results, no matter the profession.”

“Running brings with it great freedom and health. And even after I’m retired from professional athletics, I look forward to the thought of going for a run every day.”

Joshua Cheptegei

After so much talk about ice cream sandwiches we thought we’d end on a health note.

And it turns out Joshua is right about running helping your mind. Here’s another quote from a John Hopkins article:

“The mental benefits don’t stop when you finish your run — regular cardiovascular exercise can spark growth of new blood vessels to nourish the brain. Exercise may also produce new brain cells in certain locations through a process called neurogenesis, which may lead to an overall improvement in brain performance and prevent cognitive decline…

…Voluntary exercise is the single best thing one can do to slow the cognitive decline that accompanies normal aging..”

The day’s just begun, make it great one!
