What’s Up Provo! It’s been Astronomy Month all month long, and to celebrate, the Orem Library is inviting the community, plus some friends from a galaxy far, far away, for some fun and games. (Orem Library’s Astronomy Month Celebration)

We’ll celebrate it by including some crazy astronomy facts:

📆 One day on Mercury takes twice as long as 2 years on Mercury
(it revolves around the sun faster than it rotates)

🍋 The moon is actually shaped like a lemon
(we’re having a hard time believing this one)

🐢 Since it was discovered in 1846, Neptune has barely completed a single orbit
(how lazy can you get)

A few highlights from today’s newsletter

  • 👨‍🎨 Last Guest Lecture by Brian Kershisnik at the MOA, Star Wars, Shingo Conference

  • 🐮 Holy Cow Mother's Day Boutique, Spring Bazaar

  • 🎟 Upcoming: Imaginaria, OremFest, Star Wars Party

Flights from Home 🛫

We are Utahns. We want fun, and we want it cheap.

So it should be no surprise that Flights From Home, the popular travel newsletter that helps you find super cheap flights, is a Utah company. (For the record, we were surprised. We’ve known about Flights From Home for years but always assumed it was based in California or something.)

We occasionally include cheap flights out of Provo or SLC in our emails, but the people at Flights From Home are the real pro’s. It’s free to subscribe, and once you do they'll send flight deals to your inbox so you can snag tickets before the deal expires. (And some of them expire pretty fast, which is why you need Flights From Home.😉)

Subscribe now, start getting their free emails, and happy travels!

🍞 La Brioche Bakery’s Fight to Stay Alive - Update
Last time we included this story they had raised $5,000. Now they are now up to $12,570! Thanks to everyone who has donated, La Brioche has been very grateful for all the support.

As a reminder, La Brioche Bakery, which has been open for 11 years, was told by the Utah County Health Department that they now need to provide a customer restroom.

The mother-daughter duo who owns La Brioche Argentine Bakery realized that their only hope was to ask for help and so they’ve stared a GoFundMe to raise the money they need.

🏈 NFL Draft & BYU
The Daily Universe — “This year marks the first time in 10 years that no BYU players were selected in the seven-round NFL Draft”
Three players signed free agent contracts: “Batty signed with the Minnesota Vikings, cornerback Jakob Robinson signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and offensive lineman Caleb Etienne signed with the Cincinnati Bengals” and a few others were invited to minicamps.

Guest Lecture: Brian Kershisnik 👨‍🎨

This will be Brian’s “final visit to his retrospective exhibition The Difficult Part”. So go and see him and ask questions, and I guess you could also say goodbye to his work if you want to (his artwork will be moving on to another location, some of it might stay but we don’t know that for sure).

Should be a well attended event, a fun time to be at the museum, and as always, it doesn’t cost anything and no pre-booking required.
