What's Happening in Provo and Orem | Apr. 11, 2025

What’s Up Provo! Happy ✂️ Barbershop Quartet Day and 🎵 International Louie Louie Day!

Also, the weather has been amazing and there are a ton of great events happening this Friday, Saturday, and even Sunday! Seems like a new event is popping up every time we look, we can barely keep up.

Let’s get into it!

A few highlights:

  • 🥚 1st Annual Splash of Color 🔵🟡🟢, Back 40 Easter egg hunt, Pond Skim Beach Party, Cash + candy eggs, Dancing with the Stars Champions 💃,

  • 🌿 Palm Sunday at the Marriott Center

  • 🚲️ Bike Among the Wildflowers

In Partnership with
Pfeifferhorn Dental 🦷

We asked Dr. Mark Jardine (“Dr. J”) why he chose to go to one of the top dental schools in the country (Columbia University in New York).

Here’s his answer: "I wanted to be the best dentist I could so I chose a top school with some of the best professors in the world. Along with the amazing training, I was exposed to every possible dental problem imaginable by working in such a big city. It was a great experience!"

If you know Dr. J then you already know why he was able to get into such a top-notch school. It’s cause he’s a top-notch guy! Extremely skilled and experienced — but also very easy to like, and just a lot of fun.

If you need dental work, or a second opinion, call or text Pfeifferhorn Dental at 801-615-2917. (Also, Dr. J gives a lot of great advice on their Instagram — so if you’re looking for an honest opinion about dental implants, teeth whitening options, replacing your old fillings, etc. then check it out.)

✈️ Provo Airport set to break ground on expansion, adding six new gates
Part of a 3-year expansion project. The aircraft apron should be done by November, and the terminal will have 10 gates by 2028 (has 4 right now). Open house coming up on April 14th (more details coming in Monday’s email).

🏥 BYU medical school’s all-gas, no-brakes goal…
BYU aims to open its medical school by fall 2027, pending approval from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), which requires submission of over 1,000 pages of planning documents by August 1 — about 60% of which is complete. BYU has enlisted more than 150 volunteer professionals, which have contributed an estimated $10 million worth of unpaid labor. The location of the school is still under wraps. (We thought it would old Provo High, but guess that was just a rumor.)

Cook Family Park in Pleasant Grove is now open (mostly)!

In 2009, a Continental Pipe Manufacturing building burned down at this location and the land remained vacant for years.

Now it’s an amazing park with a playground, pump tracks, futsal courts, a skate park, basketball courts, and more coming in June! (Like a splash pad with a viking ship! ⛵️)

There’s also a story competition looking to feature the nine animal statues within the playground. This isn’t your average community storytelling competition – the grand prize is $2,500 and a chance to have your story published as a children’s book! Get all the details here.

📍 approximately 800 North and 600 West, Pleasant Grove
🛑 Stay up-to-date on road and park closures during construction

See you on Monday!

Thanks for reading and happy hunting! 😉
