What’s Up Provo! Happy National Winston Churchill Day!

And yes, this is a U.S. holiday. Turns out the "British Bulldog” was half-American and a U.S. citizen. (His mother was American, and in 1963 President Kennedy made him an honorary U.S. citizen.)

A few highlights of today’s newsletter:

  • 🧗 Spring Canyoneering Night, Svetlana & The New York Collective, Tiny Art Show 2025, Multicultural Festival

  • 🎻 Dan Brown’s Wild Wind Symphony at BYU

  • 👶 Community Baby Shower for Refugees and Love Rock Canyon Day

In Partnership with 100 Women Who Care
$15K to Help Utah Kids See 👓️

About 40% of U.S. kids rely on free or reduced school lunches, and many in this same population also struggle to get the vision care they need. In fact, school nurses find that the same students who badly need glasses never get them — year after year.

That’s where the SightBuddies program comes in! They presented their mission of providing glasses to students in Utah who can’t afford them at a 100 Women Who Care meeting — and they left with a $15,000 donation!

About 100 Women Who Care - Utah Valley: Their goal is to empower nonprofits and communities in Utah Valley through collective giving. Every quarter they come together, bringing $100 each, to choose a charity to fund. They often find other organizations to match their donation as well!

How you can help 100 Women Who Care:
1️⃣ Join the group! Right now they have 90 members — let’s help them reach 100! (Or more!) The more the merrier, and the greater the impact. 💪
2️⃣ Spread the word about this great organization! (Here’s their Instagram)
3️⃣ Nominate a charity

📆 Their next meeting is May 7th from 12 - 1pm at Shade Home & Garden in Orem

Dan Brown is best known for his book the “Da Vinci Code”, but he’s actually a children’s book author! His best known children’s book is called “Wild Symphony” and it has a music album that goes a long with it. Well, Shawn Smith and the BYU Wind Symphony will be performing music based on the book at this edition of the Beverley Taylor Sorensen Family Concert Series! There will be music, of course, but also pictures and narration, as well.
