What’s Up Provo! Happy Ugly Sweater Day! 🧶 

In 2002, a few Canadians decided they wanted to raise money for a mutual friend’s cancer treatment. Their idea was to throw an “Ugly Sweater Party” to help them raise the money, the first documented Ugly Sweater Party in history. It was a hit! Now ugly sweater parties are common, but good to know how it all began.

The Bulletin 📌 

Michael McLean is back in Orem 🎵🎄 

The Forgotten Carols Musical, featuring music by Michael McLean, has been on tour in Idaho, Utah, and Arizona for the last few weeks. And next week they will be coming to Orem! Tickets are still available. More info

Utah County Tax Increases 💵 

The 2025 budget for Utah County includes tax increases. The extra taxes collected will go towards law enforcement, roads, infrastructure, etc.

With the increases, the Utah County Property Taxes for a home worth about 500k will go from around $190 per year to around $280 a year. The yearly county assessing and collection fee will increase by a few dollars as well. KSL Article

Elementary School Crossing Guards Gifts 🎁 

The Crossing Guard Christmas campaign was able to raise enough money to provide a gift for every elementary school crossing guard in Provo and Orem!

Also, Parkside Elementary won the voting contest and the grand prize!

A big thanks to every one who donated. The Provo and Orem police departments (who employ the crossing guards) have been amazed with the amount that was raised and the generosity that was shown.

Paint Night at Inspiration Haven 🖌️ 

If you are looking for a serious art lesson then this event is not for you.

Paint nights at Inspiration Haven Studio in Springville are meant to be fun first and foremost. And who knows, maybe you’ll learn a few life lessons along the way. Great for a date or a night out with friends. And if you can’t make this one, don’t worry, more of these are coming up in the next few months so we’ll keep you informed.

Fortunately for all of us, the bands of Utah County have made peace after last week’s Battle of the Bands (Wilbere won by the way). Snowshoe through the wilderness on Mt. Timpanogos with a professional guide—and see a side of Utah most don’t get to see. The hope is to have a few live owl encounters, but either way it should be an educational and memorable experience.
