Local Business
Indigo 355 🍕🍰

Indigo 355 always has something fun going on! We’ve talked about their events a number of times.

Here's how it works: Local businesses and creatives rent the space and offer all sorts of classes—artisan pizza making class, toffee making, line dancing, art classes. The possibilities are endless, a lot of the classes are big hits, and they continually sell out—so you have to be quick to get a spot!

BYU Football’s Texas Christmas Vacation 🤠🌲

BYU football is in San Antonio this week for the Alamo Bowl, and spent part of Christmas day at Sea World. From the article: “BYU and Colorado both visited SeaWorld San Antonio with their families for a joint activity.” See article

Utah Snow Report

We’re currently at 81% of the normal snow pack (the Uinta Basin has 164% of normal snowfall and the St. George area is sitting at 46% of the normal). Daily Herald Water Outlook. Our soil moisture levels are not so good right now (soil moisture levels have experts concerned). And looking ahead, we are expected to get more snow for the next few days. Up to 3 feet of snow in the next few days.

Also, with all the heavy snowfall and wind there is a high risk of avalanches, so it might be good to avoid any back country adventuring. ‘Very dangerous' avalanche conditions in Utah

New federal bills that will affect Utah 📃

Three bills that will affect Utah passed the Senate and House and are awaiting the President’s signature. The Great Salt Lake Restoration Act will unlock millions in unused water conservation funds to protect the Great Salt Lake and its basin. The Mountain View Corridor Completion Act will allow Utah to buy federal land to "complete a pretty critical highway". And lastly, the Utah State Parks Adjustment Act, which will transfer ownership of land over to the state of Utah to manage. Read the full article

The Alamo Bowl 🏈

Here are some stats about this matchup. This will be the 13th meeting between the two. Colorado leads the series 8-3-1. However, the last time they played, in 1988, BYU won.

BYU and Colorado are obviously in the same conference now, so it’s odd that they are playing each other during bowl season. But most people don’t know that this is not the first time they were in the same conference. From about 1938 to 1947 BYU and Colorado were both part of the Mountain States Conference.

The oddsmakers are predicting a Colorado win, however, BYU is 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games as an underdog.

Enough details though. Let’s just root on our Cougars, hope that Darius Lassiter (when he is allowed to return in the 2nd half) will light up Colorado’s defense, and pray Kalani and the team can make it a trip to the Alamo to remember!

Friday To-do’s

It was announced that the cast of The Chosen are going to be surviving in the wilderness with Bear Grylls (no release date for the episode has been given) and because of that we have winter survival to-do’s on our mind.

Get a car winter survival kit 🚗
There have been a number of stories of snowstorms stranding hundreds of vehicles for hours and hours while they waited for rescue teams. Here are some tips about what to have in your winter survival kit for your car. Also, some people suggest keeping it in the backseat of the car, and not the trunk, in case the trunk is frozen shut or gets jammed.

Know how to keep warm in an outage 🔥
Most furnaces will not continue to operate if the electricity goes out… Accuweather’s tips for surviving a winter power outage

Get a soapstone 🪨
Some of the survivalists suggested getting a portable soapstone heater or bed warmer. Soapstone is useful because it has the ability to absorb heat and slowly release that heat over a longer period of time. More info

Thanks!

Thanks for reading! Last weekend of 2024! 😉
