What’s Up Provo!

It’s No One Eats Alone Day!

This holiday started in a few schools in Northern California in 2012, three years after Lili Rachel Smith, who was born with a facial anomaly, passed away in her sleep at the age of 15. Lili wasn’t bullied, but sadly she was often left to eat alone at school.

Today, all 50 states participate with the goal of encouraging students to eat lunch together — no one should be left to eat alone. ☺️

A few highlights of today’s newsletter:

  • 🍽️ 34th Annual Hunger Banquet, Frosty Fun Adventure Challenge, Show Me The Money, Night Owling

  • 📃 Job Fair at Thanksgiving Point

  • 🍣 Bangkok Wasabi in Orem

Small Solutions Organizing

What area of your home or office is the most disorganized? Most people say “my closet,” but what about the garage? How about the pantry? Or that one room downstairs we’ve started calling the storage room? Anyway, most of us probably have a lot of room to improve when it comes to getting our spaces organized.

Meet Tammy: Tammy Small of Small Solutions Organizing has 25 years of professional organizing experiences. And in 25 years, she’s seen it all! There’s no judgement when it comes to your cluttered and disorganized spaces.

As Tammy describes it, her first priority is to listen — to understand your story, your routine, and your needs so she can help you create a system that actually works. 💪

Tammy also has lots of experience teaching group classes, but she could do a class for two, as well. And she organizes at schools for FREE!

BYU Sports 🏐

“First of all, what kind of mythical powers does a Sun Devil have? We’ve got to consider that.” — Mike Leach

Cheer on the Cougars, live, at three different sporting events today! The women’s tennis team will be taking on Fresno State at 11am. The women’s basketball team is going to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Marriott Center at 4pm. And finally, at 7pm, the men’s volleyball team is taking on Barry University in the Smith Fieldhouse.

At 8pm the men’s basketball team will be playing against Arizona, at Arizona. Definitely a tough game — but the Cougs may have found their groove. (You can watch that game on ESPN.) Finally, baseball will also be playing an away game at Cal State Northridge, which you can listen to on BYU Radio at 2pm.

💰️ Show Me The Money 💰️
Come enjoy a free financial planning seminar at the BYU Hinckley Center. Speakers will include both professors and local finance professionals. Here are some of the topic titles: "Money and Relationships", "Prioritize Spending to Free Yourself from Debt.” This is a free, 2-hour event, and they will serve refreshments as well!

🐻‍❄️ Polar Bear Celebration
Random polar bear fact we recently learned: Native Alaskans have long claimed that polar bears use tools like rocks and chunks of ice to hunt walruses. Scientists have always dismissed these accounts as myths — until recently when they too observed this same behavior! Not that this has anything to do with this Hogle Zoo event except that it’s about polar bears, just thought it was interesting. Anyway, the Hogle Zoo will be doing special presentations about resident polar bears Nikita and Neva!

Local Business
Bangkok Wasabi 🌶️🍣

You probably already have a favorite Thai restaurant. But don’t get too attached — because we might have found your new favorite.

In fact, it’s more than a Thai restaurant, it’s a Thai-Japanese restaurant! Traditional Thai dishes are served, of course, but they also have a very impressive sushi menu.

A few more facts about Bangkok Wasabi, they opened up in 2023, the restaurant has an open kitchen design (gives the restaurant a great feel), and some of their most popular Thai dishes are their Pad Thai, their Pad kee Maow, and their Yellow Curry. 🍛

Check out their menu (including their lunch specials, 40%-50% off sushi!)
📍 124 S State State, Orem

Thanks!

Thanks for reading! Only one more (official) month of winter! 😉
