An injured hiker was rescued by a Utah County search and rescue team over the weekend. According to the KUTV article, the crew “set up "a series of rope systems" to safely help the hiker down” from a steep section near Bridal Veil Falls.

🚦 Provo on-ramps getting permanent metering
Not something we want to hear, but apparently the number of cars entering the freeway using the Center Street, and the University Avenue on-ramps is getting to be too much. So the lights controlling how many cars enter the freeway at a time will be turned on.

There has been metering in the past at both of these, but according to this Daily Herald Article, the lights will be turned on “permanently”.

Art City Days: Wednesday Events

The full schedule of Art City Days events can be found in Monday's email (search for this to find it: Art City Days, Fantastically Human, Grassroots Shakespeare) but here's what happening today June 11th:

First day of the 🎡 Carnival, most rides are just $2
🤖 Wild Robot is playing at the park (it got a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes 👀). Movie starts at dusk, which is around 9pm, and they’re watching at Spring Acres Arts Park. (They are also watching Wild Robot in the park later this Friday in Lindon.)
Of course there are the 🎪 vendors and booths, and there will also be Latin food and a Latin party called CelebrARTE as well! ¡Qué bueno

Also, don’t forget to “catch” the Mayor and/or a member of the city council for a prize. Hopefully they’re giving out free wristbands. Or Magleby’s cake.

🌽 Orem Farmers Market
If Art City Days is just a little far south for you, then check out Orem Farmers Market this evening. It’s part of the Sunset Farmers Market group and it will be happening weekly at Orem City Center Park. Don't forget, there will be a free yoga class in front of the amphitheater at 7pm. Om shanti om. 🧘
Orem City Center Park | 5pm-9pm

💦 Outdoor Zumba
No registration, no cost, no pain, no gain.
The Orchard at University Place | 8pm-9pm

🎶 Midway Music on the Square
With all the parties and markets and crowds, maybe this is a good time to get out of the valley. In Midway tonight, enjoy the peaceful setting, and the free music by Deseret Mirage, (which may or may not be peaceful, we don’t know), and maybe grab a bite from one of the food trucks on-site. Maybe Soup'r Cheesy will be there.
Midway Town Square | 6pm-8pm

Art City Days

The festivities start to ramp up...

🎠 Another discount day at the Carnival. This time it’s buy one wristband, get one half off. (It opens at 1pm closes at 10pm)

🛍 Still lots of great vendors to check out. And you really should check them out. Many only come out for Art City Days — you won't see them at other Farmers Markets.

If competition is more your thing, there's the 3-on-3 basketball tournament 🏀, or you can watch the Battle of the Bands 🎸 at Springville City Park, starting at 7pm.

🦎 And finally, there's the Fun-A-Rama! This one starts at 10am, so maybe we should have put it first in the list, but anyway there will be a lot happening at Spring Acres Park. Bounding, riding, climbing, a magic show, and Clint's Reptile Room will be there as well. (10am-2pm)

🧸 Stuffed Animal Sleepover
If you can convince your kid to sleep without their favorite "stuffy" for one night, this could be a fun one.

Drop off your stuffed animal at the Provo Library, and when you pick it up the next morning you can watch a slideshow of all the nighttime adventures everyone's stuffed animals had. The pictures will be available online if you want to print yours off.
Provo Library | All day

🎨 Art in the Park
The 8th Annual Art in the Park starts tomorrow! This is the first of a series of events happening throughout the summer.

The team and volunteers from the Neighborhood Art Center will be traveling around to different parks all summer putting on fun art activities. It’s different every time, for example, there might be sculpting, or there may be a giant canvas and kids will paint on it using those big balls you sit on and bounce with, (really should be a name for those), sometimes they will have obstacle courses... It’s all free, just wear clothes you can get messy in!
Lions Park | 10am-12pm

The ones that didn’t fit in the email:

🧵 Cosplay Craze
Share tips, get inspired, and meet fellow cosplay enthusiasts. (this is part of the Fantastically Human event)
The Compass Gallery | 12pm-7pm

🌍 Literacy material for Uganda
“You can help by simply printing (color or B/W) some resources already available and assembling them (will need folders, sheet protectors, rings, thin binders, etc.), printing and assembling games (i.e. Tic Tac Toe with sight words, Sight Word Guess Who), card games. Our budget is limited, so any printing/paper/supplies that can be donated is great. Some of it might best be printed on A4 paper to facilitate photocopying in Uganda.
