Possible changes to accessory dwelling unit requirements 🏘️ 

Currently, homeowners can get their mother-in-law or accessory apartment approved by either requesting a neighborhood zoning change or by getting a special use permit. However, the Provo city council is considering getting rid of the permit option.

BYU wins the men’s and women’s cross country NCAA championship 🏃 

“BYU became only the fifth team ever to win both the men’s and women’s NCAA cross-country championships in the same year Saturday morning in Wisconsin. First, BYU won the women’s race and then BYU won the men’s race.” Article

We are grateful for the season BYU has had so far. And very grateful that all is not lost! BYU needs to beat Houston next week and hope that either Arizona St. or Iowa St. loses in their upcoming rivalry games to make it to the conference championship. Read more

Gingerbread House Competition Display 🍪🏠️

Some sweet and lightly spiced masterpieces will be on display at the University Mall starting today! This is the 7th Annual Gingerbread Competition at the University Mall and the houses will be displayed until December 2nd, assuming they don’t get eaten first.

If you are headed to the mall anyway, then go to the hallway between Tradehome Shoes and One Love Babe to check them out.

Winter Wonderland @ Gordo’s ❄️

The Winter Wonderland is opening up again at Gordo’s Fun Farm! This Christmas-themed venue will have a ton for the family to do, including a petting zoo (with deer), a tubing hill, fire pits, slides and games, visit Santa, and an old fashioned Rudolph themed trolley ride!

Also, if buy your Christmas tree from the farm then you can get all these activities for free! (For the whole family)

🍔 Family Fun Day
This one is in Lehi—but the first 350 people who arrive get a free meal! So we had to mention it. Also, it should be a great event. It’s sponsored by Chick-fil-A, (hopefully that’s who’s providing the meal), there’s mini golf, inflatables, games, crafts, and food!

Races 🎽 

Earn Your Turkey Run on Thursday at the Orem Fitness Center. Run the race (4 miler, kid races, 2 mile fun walk), get a T-shirt, some food, and you can even win some turkey and pies!

2024 Hobble Before You Gobble on Thursday in Springville (register by the 26th). Here are the race options: 10k, 5k, Fun run.

Library Corner 🏛️ 

It’s a slow week at the Library because of Thanksgiving. Let’s use all this free time to be grateful for our library—especially the puppet shows at story time, fun events, and (most importantly) a very gracious late book policy. 🙏 

But really, take time to thank our librarians and library staff this week and be happy they get a much deserved break. (The library will be closed Thursday and Friday.)

🧈 F.O.G.
Provo City would like us to remember the acronym F.O.G., especially the week of Thanksgiving. It stands for Fats, Oils, Grease, and is a reminder to avoid pouring oils, grease, and even some sauces, down the drain so that our drains don’t clog up. Here’s a gross picture they put out there to drive the point home.
