Local Business
Pfeifferhorn Dental

We love spotlighting local businesses and business owners. (If you know a local business we should spotlight tell us here.)

Pfeifferhorn Dental, “The peak of Dental Care”, is located on University Ave. right by Magleby’s.

Get to know Dr. Mark Jardine and his team! Dr. Jardine was born here, he’s a BYU grad, he went off to Columbia for dental school—but we’re happy he came back to Utah!

(Pfeifferhorn Dental is named after Pfeifferhorn, the fifth-highest peak 🏔️ in the Wasatch Range.)

Brian Head for the win 🏂️

Because of some recent storms, Brian Head resort can open a number of trails and is the first ski resort to open up for 2024/25 Ski Season. In fact, this will “mark the resort's second-earliest start in its 60-year history.” Tickets are currently $19 (for select days in November) and kids 12 and under are free. Article | Tickets

🏀 BYU men’s basketball vs. UC Riverside

Last game Egor had 18 points, 11 assists (the most ever in a BYU debut game) and four rebounds.

The UC Riverside Highlanders are in town to take on BYU. A highlander is a “person who lives high above sea level”. (Riverside is about 800 feet above sea level.) So head to the Marriott Center (if you can get a ticket), welcome the Highlanders to the real highland, and watch BYU win a basketball game!

Dinner and a murder 🔍️🐻

The Bean Museum will be hosting their popular Mystery Game Night! Dinner will be served while teams compete to solve the murder mystery. It was Colonel Mustard, in the bird room, with the jawbone of a gorilla! The price is $25 per person ($15 for BYU students). Costumes are encouraged but not required.

🤝 Cougstival
Students and alumni (and kids of alumni) are invited to join forces in a service-scavenger-hunt this Saturday. You will need to download an app, look at the different “service quests” available (we believe these will be available throughout the week, from the 9th to the 16th), and as you serve you get points. Winners will get a prize! Unfortunately winners can only be current BYU students, but don’t let that discourage you. Plus, there will also be music, free food, and activities for kids if you bring them!

🛩️ Veterans Celebration
Oh say can you sing! The Scera is putting on this patriotic, inspiring, and free event to celebrate and honor our veterans and our great country! The keynote speaker will be Colonel Gary Keith Spencer and there will be many musical guests and performances.

🏈 BYU vs Utah
We could mention how this game should be played on the week of Thanksgiving. We are tempted to emphasize how no one expected BYU would be playing for a chance at the playoffs (and Utah would not). But what we really want to say is: GO BYU!

Friday To-do’s 🗒️✏️

Gibbon Board

Many of us will be staying inside a little more often during the next few months. So here are the to-do’s on our minds:

Help the kids burn energy indoors 🧒 Yes, we know… “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes”. But you know what? Sometimes helping kids put on snow gear is just the worst. So here are some indoor-energy-burning-ideas:
👉️ Indoor gymnastics bar
👉️ Foam, indoor, pogo stick, very highly rated
👉️ Of course, there’s the Jumparoo 🦘
👉️ A doorway gym? looks interesting…
(A lot of these can be find used on Facebook Marketplace and KSL)

Improving surfing skills 🌊 These indoor balancing-tool-things will be fun for everyone—adults and kids. (Also, one of us at What’s Up Provo is a little over zealous when it comes to “maintaining balance and mobility” so we feel obligated to refer this book ➡️ Built to Move.)

Thanks!

Have a great weekend, enjoy the slightly warmer weather and hopefully a BYU win! 😉
