What’s Up Provo! Hope it was a good education week last week, a good weekend, and a great National Banana Split Day yesterday!

Today is National Spark the World Day, but considering the fires and everything we’re probably going to celebrate National Toilet Paper Day instead. 🧻

Lots coming up this week, including the job fair, Cars & Curries, and Golden Onion Days, so let’s get into it!

In Partnership with RURAL
The deadline is approaching…

If you haven’t heard already, congress said you must have your solar system fully installed by December 31, 2025 to claim the 30% federal tax credit!

Solar Installation backlogs are expected: This is going to have a big impact on prices, so as the deadline gets closer people are rushing to install solar and take advantage of the savings, (about $9,000 on average).

Naturally, that means backlogs. In short, if you’re considering solar, it’s time to get serious. Today.

Go with Rural: They are the #1 Rural Solar Energy Provider in Utah and Wyoming, they're based in Orem, and you will not see a Rural sales reps going door-to-door in your neighborhood.

Come on now, that’s something they should be rewarded for.

Just one more thing, because there’s no door-to-door sales rep involved you’re going to get a better price (plus the 30% credit if you move quick).

🔥 Local fires
The Buckley Draw Fire near Provo has now spread over 452 acres (last we checked) and is 42% contained (last we checked), and officials now are calling it a type 4 fire instead of a type 3. (That’s a good thing, type 4’s don’t require as much management and resources.)

Only bad news is there have been a number of drones that have flown over the fire into restricted areas, which is complicating things and causing safety concerns.

There was also a fire in Mapleton on Saturday, which firefighters believe was manmade. They seem to have controlled it, but not before it burned around 50 acres.

BYU takes down #4 UCLA
Big win for the Cougars on Saturday! The score was 1-0 with the only goal coming from a PK by Ellie Walbruch. BYU is now 4-4-1 all-time against UCLA.
“Obviously it’s a huge win for us in the home opener against one of the premier teams in the country year in and year out. We knew this was going to be a big game.”
— BYU coach Jen Rockwood

Local Business Spotlight
Five Sushi Brothers 🍣

“Fight the late-night munchies.”

How it all started: What began as a late-night fix for two hungry brothers has become one of Provo’s go-to sushi spots. In 2016, Ammon and Jacob launched Five Sushi Brothers as a delivery-only concept, working out of a borrowed kitchen to serve sushi to night owls across the city. Almost 10 years later, they’re still delivering—but now with a dine-in space of their own.

What’s good: Beyond the fun menu names, there are tons of solid choices. Fan favorites include Dylan from Vegas, Plus Ultra, Band Manager, and Phat Bro. You really can’t go wrong—and the gyoza is always a great pick.

Fun extras: The vibe is casual and playful, with fun decor and video games like Super Smash and Mario Kart while you wait. They also host open mic nights (on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month), they are always running some kind of daily specials, and they offer a late-night happy hour on Saturdays (10:30–11:30pm)!

📍 445 N Freedom Blvd, Provo
🕖 Monday-Saturday: 11am-2pm & 5pm-12am 11am-2pm | Happy hour Saturdays 10:30-11:30pm
