If you are a little confused by what we’re talking about (a squirrel suit jump that is 100% safe) then just watch the vidoes at this link to see what we mean — watch normal people doing the jump 😱

WHAT’S UP
🌧 Slate Canyon Mudslide
Mud and debris covered roads (mainly Nevada Avenue and Slate Canyon Drive), after the storm on Thursday.
Prior to the storm, the city was worried about a possible mudslide because of the burn scar left by the Buckley Draw Fire. Barriers were put up and the homes were protected, but the church on Nevada Avenue in Provo ended up getting hit by a “significant amount of mud”. Plans for improving and extending the debris channel in the area are already set, so hopefully the area will be better protected soon.
🍂 Fall colors might come early
Because of a few factors, we might see the fall colors a little earlier than normal. In fact, there are reports that some of the trees in the mountains/canyons are already starting to change. Some experts also predict that the colors might not be as striking this year, partially because it’s been such a dry summer.

WHAT’S HAPPENING
Today & Tomorrow
BYU Sports

The Backyard at Cougar Canyon (Credit: BYU)
There’s the game, of course, but there’s also a lot of other stuff happening, too. Here’s a breakdown of it all:
Cougar Canyon: Opens 3½ hours before kickoff (around 2:30 p.m.) on the west side of the stadium along Canyon Road. There will be inflatables, live bands, face painting, caricatures, autograph stations, and food trucks (like Jurassic Tacos and Bandera Brisket), plus they probably still have free food for sports alumni, vendors, etc.
The Backyard at Cougar Canyon: Have we missed this every year? We feel like this is new but if it’s not please feel free to tell us. Anyway, there will be mini-golf, a big screen, a climbing wall, bouncy house stuff, games and more. See the picture above to get an idea of what it’s like. Also opens at 2:30pm.
Cougar Walk: About 2½ hours before the game, BYU players and coaches will walk and high five their way through Cougar Canyon.
Since it’s the first of the season, we’ll pass along BYU’s gameday reminders:
Only one pocket-sized “clutch bag” allowed (5” x 8” x 1”). Medical bags get a pass, but your food doesn’t, and neither do your chair back seats (this is new rule this season). The food rule always gets us, but maybe this year’s new “AI-powered concession checkouts” and the four new “fan-friendly-pricing concession stands” will be somewhat of a conciliation, even thought we’re not sure what either of those things mean.
Also, download your parking pass before leaving for the stadium and your tickets before you get to the gate. If you would rather not deal with parking, UVX and FrontRunner do provide extra service on game days.
Kickoff is at 6pm — go Cougars!
