WHAT ELSE

⛷️Start of the ski season
Winter got off to a slower start this year thanks to a late-arriving snowpack, but things are finally shaping up on the mountains. Most Utah resorts are open (except for the smaller ones) and a lot of them have made some improvements recently. More details below.
The state of the snow (as of Dec 11)
(We got most these numbers from Ski Utah)
Sundance: ~10″ (not much but yes it’s open)
Alta: ~27″ (usually has the most snow)
Brighton: ~29″ (winner so far)
Snowbird: ~21″
Solitude: ~17″
Deer Valley: ~18″
Park City Mountain: ~18″
New This Season
Sundance has the new Mountain Camp Day Lodge for better skier services plus you can get a little taste of their “Far East” terrain expansion (more Far East stuff will be available next season). The huge Electric Horseman Express high-speed lift is scheduled to open sometime, but most likely won’t be ready until next year.
At Alta and Snowbird, the Supreme Lift has been realigned, so that’s good, and they’ve four new avalanche mitigation towers.
Park City has their new Sunrise Gondola this winter, which replace the Sunrise limited-access lift. (It’s a high-speed 10-person gondola.)
And Deer Valley is arguably has the most updates this winter. Its “Expanded Excellence” project continues. It’s a massive multi-year development that will more than double its skiable terrain with nearly 100 new runs and 31 lifts over time. Several of those lifts are coming online this season.

Thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading. And please forward this to a skier who actually uses the term “pow.” 😉
