What’s Up Provo! Happy Grandma Day grandma! And happy Mariachi Day everyone else!

We packed in the events this time, let’s get into it!

WHAT’S UP

💧 Pipeline Reroute Near Provo Canyon
If you are wondering about the construction in North Orem, the Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD) is deep into a $100 million project to reroute (and strengthen) a major water pipeline that carries drinking water from the mouth of Provo Canyon to treatment plants. The existing pipeline was vulnerable to landslides and earthquakes. It’s expected to be finished in early 2027 and will help ensure reliable water delivery even during after an earthquake.

🏫 Provo School District Job Openings
There are a number of new job postings, include office assistant, secretary, and a number of instructional assistants.

🏗️ Big Bridge Loan Boosts Provo Industrial Hub
Basis Investment Group has just provided a $23.1 million bridge loan to refinance Sierra Vista Way. It sounds like a roadway, but is actually a 158,765 sq ft industrial property in Provo’s Mountain Vista Business Center.

Why Provo? Well turns out Provo is more of a prime distribution and industrial foothold for the west than you might have realized. Something we learned from the article is that Provo is an 11-hour drive from major West Coast ports (the max amount a truck driver is allowed to drive per day) and within 900 miles of every major Western U.S. city.

🏅 BYU’s “First-Choice” Status Shines Nationally
While we’re bragging about the area, here’s another thing to be proud of. BYU recently came in ranked No. 5 in the U.S. for “admission yield”, which means the % of students offered a spot who choose to actually enroll. That puts BYU ahead of Princeton and Yale and right up there with Harvard and Stanford (but with a much better football and basketball team).
