What’s Up Provo! It’s another edition of your favorite email. Where the spelling mistakes are always on purpose.
Happy National Blueberry Pancake Day, happy Lego Day, and happy National Daisy Day! Interesting that Daisy Day is in January, when there are no daisies, but this year there might be! Anyway, let’s get into it!

In Partnership with Flickinger Bolton Robson Weeks
Before filing that insurance claim…

What we’ve learned from Flickinger • Boulton • Robson • Weeks is that there’s no guarantee what you will get from your insurance.
The main reason is dealing with insurance is complicated. Everything you do (and don’t do) affects what you end up getting.
For example:
👮 It matters how the police report was filed
🩺 It matters how you track expenses and medical bills
💬 It matters what you say, or don’t say — to the insurance company, driver, the police, etc.
And the list goes on…
Work with attorneys who know how insurance works, inside and out.
Flickinger • Boulton • Robson • Weeks will help you no matter how small your incident – and you’ll never have to pay out of your own pocket.

WHAT’S UP

🏗️ UVU Opens Huge New Engineering Building
Utah Valley University celebrated the grand opening of the Scott M. Smith College of Engineering & Technology Building on Jan. 22, marking a major expansion for STEM education on campus. The four-story, ~197,000-square-foot facility houses classrooms, labs and offices — and serves over 20 % of UVU’s students. It was all made possible because of a $25 million gift from Scott M. and Karen Smith.
🥐 Sweet Ending for Orem’s La Brioche Bakery
You may remember that we talked about La Brioche Argentine Bakery in Orem some time ago. The bakery has been around for more than a decade, but after some changes to the building codes the expenses proved too much, even after a summer GoFundMe that raised about $13,000. They will be closing its doors for good on Feb. 1. So before they are gone forever, go get at little taste of Argentina and try their empanadas, pizzas, and pastries!
⚽ Two More Fields May Open for Everyone at Epic Sports Park
Mayor Marsha Judkins says she’s heard repeatedly that residents want easier access to the fields, so Provo City officials are moving toward opening two fields at the 100-acre Epic Sports Park to casual community use. Great news for everyone who was just a little disappointed that they couldn’t simply go play at Epic Sports Park like they would any other park. Hopefully that will be changing soon!
👮 The Lookout Law
One of the lesser known purposes of WUP is to keep you out of jail… and apparently if you violate the “Lookout Law” while driving you could spend up to 6 months in jail! So lookout!
(The lookout law basically says you need to be on the lookout at all times when driving and aware of your surroundings, at least that’s how we interpret it.) However, Provo officials also want to keep you out of jail, it seems, so they are considering changing the penalty. The proposal would reclassify it as a simple traffic infraction (max $500 fine, no jail). The change was set for discussion at the Provo City Council meeting on Jan. 27

Trivia answer 🤓

The Red Vineyard
The trivia question above was “How many paintings did Van Gogh sell during his lifetime?”
The answer: One.
The only painting that he sold during his lifetime, according to the internets, was "The Red Vineyard". It was purchased by fellow artist Anna Boch for 400 francs in 1890, and is the only widely known and officially documented sale.
If you want to see it today you have to go to Moscow. (not the Idaho one)

Thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading and please forward this to anyone who is bummed about the Bigfoot Snowshoe Festival 2026 being cancelled (not enough snow). 😢
