WHAT’S UP

🏗️ Springville’s Allen’s becomes “4th & Main”
It’s finally happened. A company has purchased the long-vacant Allen’s Block at 400 S. and Main Street in Springville — the spot where Allen’s Super Save Market once stood. Clyde Companies made the purchase and they are now asking the community what should go there next. The site, now dubbed 4th & Main, is fenced up for asbestos cleanup and demolition, and the company is collecting feedback here.

Oaks, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will deliver the weekly Brigham Young University devotional on Tuesday, February 10th at 11 a.m. from the Marriott Center. 🏃‍♀️ BYU’s Jane Hedengren’s historic run
BYU freshman Jane Hedengren ran an incredible 8:34.98 at the 3,000m—fast enough to go beat the previous NCAA collegiate record and will go down as the second-fastest time in NCAA history for the event. If that’s a little confusing to you, it’s because at this same event, Alabama’s Doris Lemngole set the new official collegiate record at 8:31.39. Still, Hedengren’s performance puts her at No. 2 all-time in the NCAA.

🎬 Ben Kjar review
More locals in national sports news… The new movie about local Ben Kjar, called Standout, is receiving a lot of buzz (100% tomatometer, 99% popcornmeter, and a 9.5/10 on IMDB). The movie is all about Ben Kjar, the former Utah Valley University wrestler, who was born with Crouzon Syndrome, who eventually becomes a national champion.

WHAT ELSE

Local Spotlight
Backdoor BRGR 🍔

Backdoor BRGR launched when most restaurants were shutting down during COVID — they survived and grew! Now with an expanded dining room and menu, this family-run spot is all about unforgettable burgers.

How It Started. Started by Greg and Cathy (married for 42 years and counting, seven kids!), the heart of the flavor comes from Greg’s lifelong love of cooking. When he was young, Greg would set up "cooking show", imitating Julia Child and chefs of the 50's and 60's. Now, his signature house-made sauces make every bite “craveable”.

Best Gourmet Burgers Around. The burgers have premium grass-fed beef, creative combos and flavors, and amazing fries (on the side). Here are some standout burgers:

😠 🍎 Grumpy Claire - savory caramel apples & onions, Dubliner cheese, honey mustard
🚘 🍤 Tokyo Taxi Driver - teriyaki mushrooms & onions, wasabi, kewpie mayo, tempura shrimp, pickled cucumber

What’s in a Name? All the burgers are named after people, places or experiences from Greg and Cathy’s lives. Even the decor holds life stories and makes the whole place feel fun and full of character.
