What’s Up Provo! And Orem! Hope your Cinco de Mayo was a bueno one. Some lessons learned for next year: To avoid the taco lines order tacos many many hours in advance. Or the day before.

Anyway, happy No Diet Day 🍔🍦🍕 and let’s get into it!

WHAT’S UP

🌲 Slate Canyon Stays Wild
After months of neighborhood pushback over rumors of a resort development near Slate Canyon, Provo City is officially moving to protect the area instead. The City Council voted unanimously to pursue a conservation easement covering 115 acres at the canyon’s base. There’s even a community Hike-a-Thon fundraiser in the works to support the long-term stewardship costs.

🏀 Beehive Battle Back, Basketball, Bruce Branch
BYU and Utah State are back to playing each other after they recently signed a two-game series. One game at BYU and one at the Delta center which Aggie fans can’t be happy about. The highly touted, and hopefully future basketball star, Bruce Branch III is officially in town, (welcome Bruce), and BYU is apparently the favorite to land a big 7-footer (as oppose to a small 7-footer?), Michael Ružić.
