What’s Up Provo! And Orem!
Just a little history…at 11am on November 11, 1918 World War I officially ended. To commemorate the end of World War I, November 11th became Armistice Day.
Then, in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday to Veterans Day, and it was recognized as a national holiday that honored all U.S. veterans.
Happy Veterans Day everyone! 🇺🇸

WHAT’S UP

🚴♂️ New Bike Park in Mapleton
Mapleton is gearing up for a 50‑acre bike park between Harmony Ridge and Mapleton Village, thanks to grants totaling $5 million—$3.5 M from Edge Homes and $1.5 M from the Utah Outdoor Adventure Commission. The park will include mountain‑bike trails, jump lines, a pump track and BMX skills loop, with construction bidding expected in early 2026.
🏡 Hobbit home for sale
Your Lord of the Rings-inspired dream home is up South Fork in Provo Canyon…and it’s only $43 million! The home is 23,000 sq ft—and you might be thinking, “23k?… sounds a little cramped, where are all my shoes going to go?”—don’t worry. It also comes with a 6,200 sq ft guesthouse. It has dozens of other features, too, including a golf simulator, which makes sense because (according to Tolkien) the hobbit, Bandobras Took, invented golf.
🚧 Demolition Begins on the Provo River Bridge
After years of delays, work is officially underway to replace the aging 65‑year‑old bridge at 820 North & 850 West in Provo. The structure is said to have “reached the end of its lifespan,” with safety issues including narrow sidewalks, poor sight lines and deteriorating guardrails.
📜 Missing woman in the Bible rediscovered by a BYU researcher
Manuscript errors had dropped the two Greek letters that made her name clear, so for centuries she was unnamed in scripture and simply referred to as “the elect lady” (in 2 John). But BYU professor, Lincoln Blumell’s recent work has restored her identity and suggests she may have been a significant leader in the early church community. Her name was Electa.
⚽ BYU to Host Utah State
After making history over the weekend by becoming the first No. 8 seed to win the Big 12 Tournament Championship, BYU women’s soccer looks ahead to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They’ll host Utah State on Friday at 6pm. Go Cougs!
