WHAT ELSE
Friday Foodie
Slackwater Pizza 🍕

Slackwater in Provo recently (as of May of this year) took over the space in the Riverwoods that used to be The Manor reception center.
And, as you probably know, it has had everyone talking. But do you know how it got started?
How it started: Slackwater Pizza began as a 30-seat shop in Ogden in 2011, built by two restaurant veterans - Krissan Smith and Justin Gumm - who wanted to create something of their own. The name “Slackwater” pays tribute to their love of the outdoors—and Justin’s passion for fly fishing.
How it’s grown: Their little pizza shop quickly took off, expanding to a 220-seat location and later to new spots in Sandy (2019), Salt Lake City (2022), and most recently, in The Riverwoods.
Made from scratch - every time: Slackwater is all about artisan, hand-crafted pizza—and everything’s made from scratch (even the yeast!).
Creative flavors: The Indian-inspired pizza is great (masala base, marinated chicken, and even rice on the pizza!). Also the southern BBQ, the Tastes Like Burning🔥 pizza plus lots of other favorites like the Iron Horse, and The Hulk.
Not just pizza: They have double-stuffed breadsticks, loaded nachos, hearty sandwiches, wraps, and wings — basically something for everyone.
