What’s Up Provo! Today is officially Shopping Reminder Day day, which seems like an unnecessary holiday. It is also the 126th anniversary of the “Historic Thanksgiving 1919 Snow Storm” that apparently dropped 40 inches of snow in some parts of the state!

It doesn’t look like there will be any major storms this Thanksgiving. But there are some fairly major events. Let’s get into it!

🥇 Utah 2034 Olympic Games Logo released
On the 3,000‑day‑out mark from the Games, the organizing committee unveiled the “Utah 2034 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games” name (so not just the Salt Lake City Games like it was before) plus the new logo in a launch ceremony at Salt Lake City International Airport.

✈️ Fire at the Provo Airport
A small aircraft caught fire at the Provo Airport, forcing passengers to be extracted. It also temporarily closed the airport. The airport fire personnel put out the fire and one person was hospitalized.

🏛 Springville Library Events
When most other libraries are shutting down for the holidays, Springville seems to be ramping up. There’s a late night 🦃 Tween Thanksgiving Party tonight, and tomorrow there’s a double header at their🍿 No School Movie Day event. Elio at 1pm, and Bad Guys 2 at 4pm.

🏐 Women's Volleyball vs. Utah
BYU’s record is 20-8, and the U is 14-13 overall, but they’re also on a 3 game win streak, and BYU lost the last one up in SLC. Time to get one back!

🏀 Thanksgiving Day BYU games
The men’s team will be playing at the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Invitational Thursday and Friday. There are multiple brackets at this invitational, and BYU will be playing in the highest profile one, the “Magic Bracket”, along with Miami, Georgetown and Dayton. BYU’s first game is at 3pm MT on Thursday against Miami, and if they win they will play the winner of the Georgetown vs Dayton game on Friday. (If they lose they would play the loser of that game).
The women’s team will be in the Virgin Islands at the “Paradise Jam” playing Virginia Tech this Thursday at 3:30pm. And the tournament games continue on Saturday with a game against either Oregon State or Vanderbilt.

A festive 1-mile run/walk ending with hot chocolate, a doughnut, and Christmas carols as the lights switch on. You might get a free Santa hat, too.

Santa is making his grand return to University Place (via helicopter) on Friday, and after he gets there it’s going to be a party. (probably before he gets there, too.) Face painting, free giveaways, hot chocolate from Tucanos, Chick-fil-A brownies, and more! Apparently no reindeer though. In fact Santa will be arriving via helicopter. Not sure where the reindeer will be, might be some collective bargaining agreement that prohibits.
