🏃♂️ Local Clayton Young Finishes in the Top‑10 at Worlds
Congrats to former BYU standout, Clayton Young, for his 9th place finish at the 2025 World Athletics Championships marathon in Tokyo! His time was 2:10:43, he was the top American in the race, and his 9th place finish was the same placement he earned in last summer’s Paris Olympics.
⚡ Power Line Plan
"We're not anti-power. We're not anti-grid. We're just anti-bad placement of things."
A new 45-mile Rocky Mountain Power transmission line is drawing heat in Salem. Locals aren’t thrilled with the 135 feet tall towers which will be running behind homes and through wetlands in Salem Park. As always, a petition has started and it has over 1,200 signatures. Next up: the Utah County Planning Commission will decide if the project got enough public notice before granting it a permit.
🏐 BYU Volleyball Keeps Rolling
The No. 19 BYU women’s volleyball team has opened the season undefeated, riding high after two straight sweep wins. First, they stunned No. 16 USC in Los Angeles, winning 3‑0 (25‑19, 25‑23, 25‑23). Freshman Suli Davis starred with her first career double‐double: 15 kills and 10 digs. Then on Sept. 13, BYU delivered another dominant performance, sweeping Western Michigan (25‑17, 25‑18, 25‑17), hitting .343 as a team while limiting WMU to just .141.

WHAT ELSE
Local Business Spotlight
Girlyish Skincare 💖

From BYU idea to growing brand: It all started when sisters Macy Schmitt and Madison Heiner teamed up to start a business while Macy was in the Entrepreneurship program at BYU. Inspired by the lack of age-appropriate skincare for tweens and teens, they launched Girlyish Skincare to fill the gap with products that are clean, simple, and actually made for developing skin.
What began as a college side hustle is now a fast-growing skincare line with fans across the country.
Loved by girls, approved by parents: Most skincare products are made for adult skin, with strong actives like retinol or acids—not ideal for developing skin. Girlyish flips the script with clean, youth-safe formulas that skip the harsh stuff entirely.
Their skincare products contain no parabens, no artificial fragrances, no hormone disruptors, or any other harmful chemicals. Just one reason why teens/tweens (and parents) love their products!
