What’s Up Provo! Hope Labor Day was a great one for you, and happy Bison-Ten Yell Day!
We often mention weird holidays, but this one really is one of the weirdest. You are supposed to yell “Bison-Ten Yell” a bunch of times in a row, and it sounds like “bicentennial”. That’s it. That’s the holiday.
Anyway, let’s get into the news and events.

Why solar doesn’t always protect you during an outage
When the power goes out, many home solar systems shut off!
The reason: Solar panels are required to shut off during a power outage. Doing this keeps electricity generated from the solar panels from being sent into the grid while utility workers are trying to fix everything.
Makes sense, but what a shame to be unable to use your power generating machine right when you need it most! Isn’t there a way around this?
The solution: As you probably guessed – yes, there is something you can do. When Rural solar installs your solar system with a battery, the battery allows the solar panels to stay on even during an outage, and it keeps the excess electricity from being sent into the grid, keeping the workers safe.

WHAT’S UP
⛰ Restrictions at Bridal Veil
The $7M Bridal Veil Falls makeover kicks off Sept 2, 2025, running through fall 2027—and visitors should expect limited access throughout. Phase 1 (Sept 2025–July 2026): the lower parking lot and bridges to the fall’s trail will be closed. Phase 2 (July 2026–late 2027): the trail at the base, lower falls, and bike access will be restricted and rerouted.
🏈 BYU Football
Freshman QB Bear Bachmeier accounted for five touchdowns, and the Cougars piled up 468 rushing yards while holding the Vikings to just 51 total yards defeating Portland State easily on Saturday. Next up: BYU heads to Stanford as heavy favorites this Saturday.
🏐⚽ BYU Volleyball & Soccer
It was all Ws for BYU women’s teams. Volleyball opened 3-0 with sweeps of FDU and High Point, powered by standout freshmen like Suli Davis (14 kills in debut). And then on South Field, soccer blanked Auburn 2-0. BYU is now ranked no. 11, and they have a big game tonight, more on that below.
