In Partnership with RURAL
Free Power Forever (?)

Most people assume that if they have solar, they’re set during a blackout. Flip the switch and boom—free power forever.
Unfortunately that’s not quite how it works. (Which was a surprise to us.) By law, solar panels have to shut off when the grid goes down (to protect utility workers).
The fix? A solar + battery system. The solar system recharges the batteries rather than going into the grid, keeping utility workers safe and keeping your AC/heater going, your fridge cold, and your Wi-Fi running—even when the city is in the dark.
When Rural Solar installs batteries along with your solar system, they aren’t installing just any battery—they are an official partner of Humless (also a local company). Humless batteries are trusted by big names like Costco, partially because they are the only ones that will keep working even at extreme high and low temperatures.
RURAL + Humless = real energy independence.
👉 Learn how Rural does solar smarter (without involving a door-to-door salesman)
😱 Don’t miss out on the 30% federal solar tax credit — it needs to be installed before the December 31st deadline!

WHAT’S UP
Zach Frisch has raised the bar for Mount Timpanogos runners everywhere—with a new Fastest Known Time (“FKT” - apparently that’s a real acronym) of 2:14:38 from Timpooneke to the summit. After grinding through ~750 hours of mountain training in the past year, plus a 6‑hour Kings Peak run and massive mileage, he beat the previous record by almost 4 minutes.
By the way, the article we linked might make it seem like this was a start to summit record. But it was a car-to-car time, beating the previous record of 2:18:17, held by Joseph Simmons.
🏈⚽ BYU sports
Last Saturday BYU defeated East Carolina on the road, 34‑13. Here’s a quick look at BYU after the win. They are now in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time this season (#25), and the defense is number one in the country in points allowed per game (tied with #1 Ohio State). And looking at Bachmeier specifically, he has now passed for 518 yards, with 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
In other BYU sports news, BYU men’s soccer beat the Utah Utes last week 3-1, and BYU Women’s Volleyball beat UVU 3-1 as well.

Today in Local History 🕰️
It was a long time ago today (September 23, 1776) that the first European settlers encountered Utah Lake.
Father Silvestre Velez de Escalante and the other explorers in the Dominguez-Escalante expedition reached the lake after traveling through Spanish Fork Canyon and climbing a rise that is now Dominguez Hill. They named the lake Laguna de Los Timpanogos (the Lake of the Timpanogos) and stayed in the area for three days.
