WHAT’S UP

Former BYU running back Eddie Stinnett passed away Sept. 17 at age 64. He’s especially remembered for a dramatic halfback pass to Steve Young in the closing seconds of the 1983 Holiday Bowl that sealed BYU’s victory.

Some highlights from the Daily Herald article: Stinnett was described by coaches and teammates as “flamboyant…fun” and “full of love and kindness.” After his playing days, he served troubled youth, enjoyed fishing and camping, and is survived by his wife and two sons.

🌧 More mud
It hasn’t been long since the last mudslide, and unfortunately fresh burst of runoff dumped mud and water onto public streets again on Monday. Luckily, thanks to barriers installed by the city, no private homes were affected this time.

🛩 Wings and Wheels 2025
Some major airborne excitement in Spanish Fork tomorrow. In fact, you might even get airborne yourself. There will be static aircraft displays, skydivers, car‑versus‑plane challenges, and based on the pictures there’s going to be large bursts of fire as well. But that’s not all! The warbirds will do some flybys, flight formations, and aerobatics. Of course there will be food and there will even be helicopter rides! (The helicopter rides do cost a little extra, but still…)
Spanish Fork Airport | Sat, Sep 27 | 9am-5pm

🎃 Annual Harvest Market
Soak up some cozy fall atmosphere at Sundance tomorrow. This one is a two day event (Saturday and Sunday) of autumn‑filled fun at the Mountain Camp Day Lodge lot (lot C). The weather, the views, the food, the vendors…it’s going to be amazing. Hopefully the parking and traffic will surprise us as well—in a good way.
(Also, it’s another Oktoberfest weekend at Sundance’s The Foundry Grill and The Owl Bar, so you might want to check that out while you’re there.)

🏈 BYU Sports - Saturday
BYU’s home crowd gets a double dose with both women’s volleyball (vs Iowa State @ 12pm @ the Smith Field House) and women’s soccer (Cincinnati @ 7pm @ South Field).
Football will be playing Deion’s Buffs in Boulder. BYU is favored by 6.5 points, which is actually a little less than you might expect given how these two teams have looked. Some experts are saying this could be an upset alert—don’t let it happen Kalani! Go cougars!

WHAT ELSE

Friday Foodie
Grapefruit & Thyme 🥧

From cakes to pies: Amilia launched her dream bakery in 2019, focusing on wedding cakes—but just months later, COVID threw the event world into chaos. With weddings on pause, she pivoted fast and fearlessly, switching gears to offer pies—first sweet, then savory too. That unexpected shift kept the business alive, but it also helped Grapefruit & Thyme create a whole new identity.

Sweet meets savory: Their menu is packed with beautiful contrasts—like a flaky pork barbacoa pie next to a bright sour orange cream. Classic comfort foods meet unexpected flavor twists, with seasonal rotations that keep things exciting (think peach raspberry, brisket pot pie, or strawberry balsamic). Whether you’re craving dessert or dinner, there’s a pie for that. 😉
