What’s Up Provo! And happy Wonderful Weirdos Day all you wonderful weirdos!
It’s a bye week for BYU football this week, which is OK — they need some time to fix the offense, and we all need time to enjoy the other stuff happening. Let’s get into it!

In Partnership with
Walk 4 Hope
The Walk4Hope is great event, a great cause, and it is free to the public!
It includes a continental breakfast, free t-shirts, a dove release, on-site mental health providers, a pipe band, a short program with child psychiatrist Dr. Matt Swenson, and, of course, a walk!

WHAT’S UP

The Springville City Council just approved a preliminary deal which means a 74,000‑square‑foot travel center off I‑15 Exit 261. And not only will Buc‑ee’s be coming, they will fund some infrastructure — roads, utilities, traffic signals, and a sewer lift station. (Some of this may be partially reimbursed by the city.) Construction could begin within a year, with the store and gas station opening in about 15–18 months.
If you don’t know Buc-ee’s, it might be the most loved gas station chain in America, and you used to only be able to find them in Texas. They are famous for their size, for all the unique things they offer, and for having very clean bathrooms.
🔥 Fire Watch: Utah County
Two wildfires are keeping officials on alert in Utah County. The Bismark Fire, near Elberta (yes, Elberta is a city in Utah County, population: 304), has burned about 50 acres but isn’t threatening any structures yet.
The Buckley Draw Fire east of Provo has spread to around 400 acres and apparently is still spreading.
So two fires in Utah County right now, both are being monitored closely, of course. The good news? The Monroe Canyon Fire (Utah’s largest this year at 73,721 acres) is finally 100% contained.
🏈 BYU vs Stanford - experts weigh in
In summary, BYU won 27-3, the defense looked amazing, and the offense didn’t.
All media outlets have been singing praises about BYU’s defense, and they all agree that the offense has lacked explosiveness, as well as effectiveness in the red zone.
Hard to give just one reason for the offense’s struggles so far. It might be because of penalties, bad execution, bad communication between quarterback/receivers/offensive line, maybe unimaginative play-calling. Maybe all of the above. But, hey, it’s still early. Aaron Roderick said (in reference to the play-calling and the offense in general), “as we progress it’s going to open up more and more.”
