What’s Up Provo!

Did you know that 25 years ago the movie 6th Sense came out? 👻 A great movie. One of the greatest plot twists ever.

Know what else? The 6th Sense was made by DISNEY… Didn’t expect that. The twists keep coming.

What a great fact to know about an iconic movie. Next time someone asks “what’s your favorite Disney movie” you should say “The 6th Sense…” and just watch their reaction. 🤨

Anyway, happy Wiggle Your Toes Day! 🦶 Let’s get into it!

What’s Happening

Here’s a quick overview of today’s top events:

Ono’s Malasadas

OUR STORY

While on their annual vacation to the Hawaiian Islands, Sophia Bussio and her family discovered Malasadas, a Portuguese fried sweet dough, a food staple in Hawaii. Sophia and her family saw the opportunity to bring the malasada magic to Provo. Excited to embrace the opportunity, the Bussios dove headfirst into the world of fried dough, later naming their new company “Ono’s Malasadas.”

OUR NAME

The name, a fusion of Hawaiian and Portuguese, encapsulates what a malasada truly is. “Ono” in Hawaiian means “delicious,” while in Portuguese, “Malasadas” translates to “bad dough” — a contradiction that perfectly describes the treat.

Tip for the day

It’s national Simplify Your Life week. One common suggestion for simplifying and improving your life is the idea of “leaving work at work”.

There are a lot of tips on how to do this. A common and somewhat unusual one is to create an "end of work day routine or ritual.

Some go so far as having a few minutes to review everything, reorganize their desk, and then finally they close their laptop, or turn off their computer, and say aloud something like, “Work complete.”

The idea is to signal to your body and mind that you are done with work.

What are the benefits? You might find that your time spent working and your time spent NOT working are more both satisfying and effective if you stop mixing the two. Here is a longer article if you want to read more about this topic.

Words To Remember

"...blessed be the heart who finds its way to the eternal summer."

Frithjof Schuon

We don’t know exactly what this means, we just love summer.

In conclusion, we want to leave you with a message from the (official?) wiggle your toes day website: “Let your toes breathe in open sandals and indulge in some public wiggling adventures on this day.”

Whether you decide to have a “public wiggling adventure” today or not, we hope that either way it’s a great day!
